Ramsgate Operatic Society

Ramsgate Operatic Society presents the award-winning musical comedy “The Pajama Game”.

Based on Richard Bissel’s novel,’7½ cents’, The Pajama Game is the winner of 4 Tony awards on Broadway and features great songs including ‘I’m Not At All In Love’, ‘Once A Year Day’, ‘There Once Was A Man’ and several numbers which reached  No1 in the US charts including ‘Hey There’, ‘Hernando’s Hideaway’ and ‘Steam Heat’.

At the Sleeptite Pajama Factory in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the workers are demanding a pay increase of 7½ cents whilst refusing to deliver increased production targets.  Yet despite the industrial turmoil everyone still finds time to make new close friends at the factory’s annual picnic.

Superintendent, Sid Sorokin, finds himself falling for ‘no nonsense’ Union rep ‘Babe’ Williams who returns his feelings until the pay dispute puts them on opposite sides of the factory fence.  Mean-minded factory boss, Myron Hasler, stubbornly refuses to negotiate but is hiding his own guilty secret.  Vernon Hines, the workaholic time study man, is wildly attracted to Hasler’s secretary, Gladys Hotchkiss, while the Union’s President (‘Prez’ to his friends) would just be happy with any factory girl he can get his hands on.
So don’t ‘down tools’ or ‘go slow’ on booking for this great musical full of ‘material’ and songs that are ‘sew’ infectious.  The Pajama Game is guaranteed to have you in ‘stitches’!

An amateur production by arrangement with Music Theatre International (Europe).
