Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan

Pirates of Penzance is arguably the most popular and humorous of Gilbert and Sullivan's operettas.

Sullivan's energetic score contains some of his most beautiful music; Gilbert's characters in his most topsy-turvy of plots include Frederic, the pirate's apprentice, who was born on February 29th in a leap year and therefore won't be 21 until he's 84; the Pirate King and his men; Major General Stanley an his daughters; and the local constabulary led by the Sergeant of Police. Great songs include “I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major-General”, “With Cat-Like Tread”, “Poor Wandering One” among many others.
