Towards the end of 2006 a group of seven local entrepreneurs and arts enthusiasts formed a company to take over the Granville Theatre Ramsgate. On 1 May 2007 The Granville Theatre Limited had raised sufficient funds to acquire the lease of the theatre/cinema. The team immediately embarked on an exciting and ambitious plan to ultimately stage live shows in the theatre for 52 weeks of the year while still showing the latest films in Cinema 1.
Our theatre productions have included the children’s musical Honk, based on the story of the Ugly Duckling by Theatre Stage Company, and the schools’ version of Les Miserables, which was a huge success. More recently, we presented our very own production of The Wizard of Oz for a 19 performance run, which has set the standard for our future productions.
The Theatre hosts several community based activity clubs listed on our events page, but we are always open to other ideas on what you would like to see and do.
The annual membership is just £5 and will give you concessions at certain events, and is also a good way to make new friends.
