Plot Synopsis

Night. An injured woman runs to the ER bleeding from a head wound only to find that the hospital is closed. Someone — or something — emerges from the darkness behind her. And strikes . .

The next day, Roslyn, a young nurse, is recruited to collate the patient files from the closed hospital`s ER department. She looks forward to the peace and quiet of working nights on her own instead of the hustle and bustle of a busy Emergency Room.

Being in the hospital after dark, though, Roslyn finds the job is anything but peaceful. There has been more than one murder in the area. A suspected serial killer is on the loose and a suspicious cop is hanging around, asking too many questions.

As she collates the patient records, Roslyn discovers that all the murdered women were at one time or another patients at the hospital. Her taxi-driver husband has been reading their files when he stops by and has been in the same neighborhood as the murders picking up or dropping off fares. Putting two and two together, she begins to suspect that he might be responsible for the killings.

Roslyn confides in the only other person working in the hospital at night, Dr. Irvin Clement, a psychiatrist. He's doing the same paperwork job as Roslyn but on the fifth floor Psych ward. An amiable relationship develops between the two and Clement encourages Roslyn to confront her suspicions and open up about her past.

Then a young girl working the day shift at the hospital disappears and Roslyn has to act. But she’s overlooked one thing, one final secret that lies buried deep within room Psych: 9 . . .
